Unless you're actually living in the region where the clashes are (and have been) taking place, it would be best to reserve judgement, because both sides could be feeding just as much misinformation about this tragedy as actual news.

In short - many people around the world who are following this conflict via the press don't know what to believe anymore.

For anyone in the US who has decided that Russia (and Putin) is to blame, consider the fact that your Constitutional rights are being trumped every day by NSA spying, and have been since 2008 according to leaked cables. And the same could be true for the UK, as well as other western nations.

Above all else, politicians on both sides can be relied upon to lie their asses off if it serves their interests. Some of these control freaks bullshit to the point that it makes even lawyers blush.

Lastly, I agree with the sentiment that whomever "wins" the conflict will get to write their version of the narrative as historical fact, as has been done countless times in the past. However, hopefully a day will come where the crooks pulling the strings will be the first to receive an appropriate punishment.

I can tell you that "good guys," generally don't invade other countries for no apparent reason. As for the killing of civilians, I doubt the government is directly attacking it's own people. When a country is in chaos like that, shit happens.
