You have a point, but often the video shows images not seen in the HQ-stills. You could make maybe four or five stills from the video and have the scenario fully covered, which I sometimes have done, if there are only a few seconds of worthwhile footage. But the problem is that videoframes aren't sharp - and in fact the video would look unnatural, if they were. So stills made from videomaterial are almost allways a compromise in quality.

The only exception could be real HD video, as videos here are allways downsized to 480 pixels. But even then the original HD video looks much better than the stills, you can make from it.

And no, the answer is not to link to the original HD video - the kind of material of interest here disappears faster than the morningdew on a summerday from youtube, and the only thing you've got then is a dead link.
