Two Young People Die After Accident Resulted in Guardrail Piercing Through Car
Lviv region, Ukraine On the Zhydachiv-Khodoriv highway, a road traffic accident occurred that left two people dead and three others injured. The accident happened around 8pm, and involved a Mercedes-Benz vehicle driven by a 17-year-old. According to the investigation, the teenager, while overtaking two vehicles traveling in the same direction, lost control of his car as he returned to his lane. As a result, the Mercedes he was driving collided with another vehicle that was traveling ahead, before crashing into a guardrail at high speed, which caused the guardrail to pierce through the vehicle. As a result of the collision, a teenaged girl and a 20-year-old man in the Mercedes-Benz died at the scene. Three other passengers in the same car - all teenaged boys - were hospitalized with injuries. The Mercedes driver was arrested.  ·  ·  ·  ·  · |

Guardrails are not designed to do that but it happens anyway. They are designed to buckle, wrinkle, and fold up like an accordion. At least in the states that receive federal highway funds. |
