Re: Two Serious Traffic Accidents, One Victim Unidentifiable

Back in the late 60's or early 70's I saw a sign on a NYC subway. "If you really dislike the police, next time you're in trouble call a hippie."

I wish I had that sign. It pretty well sums up the truth. As I've aged I'm use to the anti-police folks...they hate you right up until they need you and then (very very briefly) you're a hero...and then you're despised again. Or, they become instant police use of force experts and even though they've never been inna playground fight, they immediately know exactly what you should and shouldn't have done. Typical human nature.

I know it's nothing personal, it's just that certian types of young folks and a few old bitter liberals (surviving hippys) hate anyone in a position of power or authority. They're suspicious of authority and forget that American police are just regular citizens with limited authority to keep the peace and deter crime. They forget that we live in the communities we police and are just regular folks that go to work, up on a uniform, serve the community, and go home. We're citizens just like the folks we police. Sometimes people on the extreme left and right forget that we, as police, are just normal folks working a job...there really isn't a conspiracy or agenda. We don't go out of our way to mess with people unless there's a fairly good reason.

Re: Two Serious Traffic Accidents, One Victim Unidentifiable

30564U, my uncle was a detective in a major city, and all the years he worked, he was always calm and fair to people. He wasn't some cowboy waving his gun around and it annoys me when people think that police are all on some power trip and that's why they join the force. People forget that cops have to deal with the absolute worst things society has to offer-pedos, child abusers, murders, accidents etc. As you said, it's one thing to look at some photos, it's not at all the same as seeing it up close. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to see this stuff in person. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Re: Two Serious Traffic Accidents, One Victim Unidentifiable

My God I'm sorry to hear you witnessed that Must have really shocked you?

I used to work in a mortuary and a freshly opened up body certainly did have an unpleasant smell. The chest and skull cavity smelled like the inside of a butcher shop and the abdominal contents like, well, one helluva fart!!

Nasty reality of all the scenes like this on here
Hmm. I wouldn't think there would be much smell unless the bowels were pierced.
