I think they did know what hit them because number one wasn't killed where she was found, it was too clean. Nuber two most likely was aware because the back of her head was blown out so she must have been facing the shooter. They knew who killed them and they knew why. Still doesn't make it right, and yeah, that first girl looks like a dude, that may have something to do with their deaths, maybe they were both dudes and failed to tell someone.
