On the morning of Monday, February 13, 2023, a Nissan Almera crossed into the opposite lane on the AMJ highway in Melaka, Malaysia, colliding with a Toyota Altis and a motorcycle. Its driver, Noor Izwani Ali Mohd Nor, 35, and passenger, Nur Aisah Djaapar, both factory workers returning from a shift at an electronics factory in Batu Berendam, died at the scene. The Altis driver, an off-duty police officer, sustained minor injuries, while the motorcyclist, a hospital medical assistant, suffered a broken right leg. Police investigated the incident under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
