Pork rinds! Open the picture and enlarge it. There is a display advertising pork rinds just behind the dead bodies. Around 1988 I was doing database programming in various Chicago shitholes. One was on the South Side in the old meat packing district (ever read "The Jungle"?). It was called Evans Foods. They made pork rinds and gave me a bag, I tried one and spit it out it was so disgusting. I asked the manager "who eats this stuff?" He replied "blacks, Hispanics, red necks...". Then, a month later, they had President Bush (Senior) on the news eating pork rinds and flashed to Evans Foods in Chicago to show where the delicacies were made...

Well, on the one hand it seems like an extreme punishment to kill someone for trying to steal a few bucks, but on the other hand they did have weapons and if someone held a gun on me I'd kill them too if given the chance. All up, an unfortunate situation because they were so young, but they probably wouldn't have amounted to anything anyway so this is probably a reasonable outcome for all involved.
