Hollywood director Tony Scott, brother of world famous director Ridley Scott jumped to his death from the Vincent Thomas Bridge in Los Angeles, California. A suicide note was later recovered.

A real shame; he directed some pretty fun films. Including True Romance, which has always been one of my favorite movies.

Even if the brain tumor rumor was debunked, I suspect that there must have been something physically wrong for an otherwise successful 70 year old man to just end it like that. The witnesses said he didn't even hesitate for a moment. Just got out of his car and took a header. Of course, clinical depression can be a pretty strong force, but I am quite curious to see the autopsy report when the ME releases it here in a few weeks to see if there was a physical factor at play.

I heard he suffered from depression, very sad.

He was also supposed to be working on a remake of one of my all time favorite movie, "The Warriors," but this time set in Los Angeles.

The director, who took the helm on classic films like 'Top Gun' and 'Beverly Hills Cop II', even planned to stage a major gang battle on the bridge for a planned remake of the 1979 cult classic 'The Warriors'.

In 2009 Scott told RottenTomatoes.com : "I'm hoping to get 100,000 real gang members standing on the Vincent Thomas Bridge for one shot. I've met them all: Crips, Bloods, The 18th Street Gang, The Vietnamese and so on. They all love The Warriors."

Scott's family ruled out brain cancer as a reason for his suicide, while in a n interview with NBC News Scott's friend and colleague Julian Bray said that Scott had suffered from depression "throughout his life".
