Three Dead In Car Crash [Brazil, October 1st 2011]

They were returning from a party at 4.30 last night: after banking, their car crashed on a tree. All three died on the spot.

Some more photos, including three while they were alive. The two girls were cousins, btw, 24 and 25 years old.

Re: Three Dead In Car Crash [Brazil, October 1st 2011]

That's so sad. Just happened like 12ish hours ago? I feel so bad for the horrendous grief their family is going through right now. How fast we are taken. I hope it was fast for them. I think new fresh death affects me more than older death. I guess because I can put myself into the shoes of those who are just hearing the news.

But to stay true to DR, sure that living pic of the one girl is really her? Looks older than 25 unless they age fast in Brazil. Still. A fucking sad shame. But when it's your turn, it's your turn. Doesn't matter how you go, but you're going.

So sad.

A good example of how a person can be killed in a gawd-awful wreck without ending up with a single scratch. She must have been in the back seat behind the driver given the seatbelt mark on her lower right tummy.

Re: Three Dead In Car Crash [Brazil, October 1st 2011]

But to stay true to DR, sure that living pic of the one girl is really her? Looks older than 25 unless they age fast in Brazil. Still.
No, as I didn't actually take any of the photos, I cannot be sure that it is her.

But that is the photo (and the age) that was provided on multiple Brazilian news sites covering the accidents. I do all of my photo/story searching from the Midwest US and use online translators for most of the Portuguese and Spanish, so my info is occasionally prone to errors in translation. But this one was pretty straightforward, so I suspect it is accurate.

As for the third (and youngest) girl, my speculation would be severe brain or spinal injury. Given the complete lack of visible external trauma, coupled with the fact that she obviously emptied her entire bladder into her shorts, I'd say that is the most plausible scenario.

While bladder release is not uncommon in any kind of violent/traumatic death, it occurs most often when there's a disconnect between nerves from the brain to the bladder, such as with asphyxiation, brain injury, or spinal severance. Of course, she could have wet her pants in fear once the car started going out of control, we'll never know. But my guess is still nerve damage, likely a spinal injury since there's no trauma to her face (and no brains/blood leaking out of her ears/nose/mouth).

Primary flaccidity is possible, too, though usually a postmortem release of urine/feces is fairly minimal in amount, depending on body position and fullness of the requisite organs. She looks like she probably unloaded her entire bladder into those shorts, so I'd guess it was more related to the injury. No way to tell without reading the ME's report, though.
