Thief Shot During Police Confrontation
A thief died after an exchange of gun fire with the military police in Araguaína in Tocantins (388 km of Palmas, Brazil). The 32yo had robbed a jewelry store in the city of Balsas in Maranhão where a police officer was killed during a resulting confrontation. Then the thief paid $200 for transport to Araguaína and witnesses said he threatened the driver of the vehicle saying that he would kill his sister if he informed the police of his location. Hours later the assailant was located after breaking into a residence and trying to take a person hostage. The police intervened, he resisted arrest so was was eventually shot.
