B.V.Q., only 19 years old, died after an attempted assault in the commune of Pudahuel.

As reported by the PDI Homicide Brigade, B.V.Q entered together with three other subjects to a condominium to steal and they met the resident family, who opposed resistance.

One of the assailants shot and wounded a woman, the daughter of the homeowner, in the chest, prompting the rest of the family to escape to the kitchen.

Despite the fact that several family members had gone into hiding, it was not the case of a 3-year-old boy, so at one point his mother (the sister-in-law of the house owner) took him to take him to the matrimonial room of the home and tuck it under the bed.

However, the assailant who was later killed was hidden there. The individual, who was identified as B V Q (23), took the infant and used him as a human shield, even putting a knife to his neck.

After realizing the situation, one of the sons of the house owner threw himself at the individual to take the boy away, starting a struggle where the assailant was wounded, which ultimately caused his death.

The victim was released on January 20 after the Supreme Court accepted an appeal for protection. The man was in the former Penitentiary for three different crimes of theft and reception.

He was allowed to continue serving his five-year sentence on probation. Otherwise, he would have been out in September 2021.
