On 23rd October 2018 in Bangkok, the owner of a vegetarian restaurant hadn't been to work, so his cousin came to check the restaurant. Inside, the man found the walls + floor of the kitchen were splattered with blood + there was a smell of something rotting.

The police were called in to investigate + they found that human meat had been prepared + served to customers. Upon further investigating, the police looked inside a septic tank + found the body of 61 year old P.I. The man had last been seen 2 days prior, arguing with the restaurant owner. His body had many knife wounds + pieces of him had been eaten by unsuspecting customers.

The restaurant owner was nowhere to be found.

What on earth did they think they were eating? I have no idea what human meat tastes like but I imagine it's a far cry from the run of the mill meat substitute stuff

I think that you have misunderstood! The customers did not know they were being served human meat. They thought it was a vegetarian restaurant.

I understand that human meat tastes a bit like pork. Of course it can probably be prepared in a variety of ways to taste different each time.
