Thai Woman Shot Dead in Contract Killing
Rather interesting story here, somewhat spoiled by my inadequacy at translating the Thai language. Etsu gave me a hand with some of it, enough to fill in the gaps. This 36 year old woman, who was highly-placed in the division of Civil Planning, in her city had recently broken off a relationship with a prominent local politician in order to marry someone else. Apparently, the politician was sorely displeased and ordered his dogsbody to arrange an assassination in order to teach her a lesson. Using some ostensibly-clever ruse that was not disclosed in the reports, the killers enticed the woman into pulling her car off on the side of the highway, at which point two of them exited a black pickup and entered her back seat with guns drawn. This was all caught on CCTV camera from some distance away.  After spending about 2 minutes in the car, several shots were fired and the woman was killed while sitting in the front. The two men exited and returned to the truck. Unfortunately, the camera identified one of them as her ex's henchman and the investigation proceeded quickly from there. Her ex, the henchman, and the hired killer have all been arrested, but she was killed almost immediately from the point-blank pistol shots. Sorry about the censorship in various images. Par for the course with Thai photos these days and, frankly, I am surprised it wasnt worse given that the woman and her ex were both government employees. If this story is true, it was the dumbest crime in the history of contract killing. A deaf and blind investigator would be able to find a motive for this crime. |
