A female Thai tourist from Bangkok, has died after being stung by a box jellyfish while swimming off Koh Phangan Island on Friday night. Following the 9.30pm report of the incident, police went to Hospital and were infomred that the 31-year-old woman was dead. Police said that the woman had travelled to the island from Bangkok with friends and went swimming at around 8pm in Tambon Ban Tai and was stung. |

These are also the smartest, fastest, most active jellyfish. They are the only jellyfish with true eyes. They hunt prey instead of drifting like other jellyfish.

What happens is that after the toxin in injected into the skin it causes cells to leak potassium. The potassium level in the blood becomes extremely high and causes the heart to fail.

Stay the fuck out of the natural habitats of creatures that can kill you with a touch or a bite. Humans remain ever slow to learn, after so many hundreds of generations of being slaughtered by treading where we don't belong. |
