The 4th pic from the top are Kurdish Peshmerga. They are and have been our allies for decades. I was in Iraq up north in the mountains. They are sometimes referred to as the "Mountain people." Good people, hardened fighters and have a successful democracy of their own. You never had to worry when you were in Kurdistan.

A successful democracy that consists of 2 different warlords that have been at war for the last 20 years, with both of them siding with saddam when it benefitted them...... Our biggest friend in that region, and only NATO member is turkey. The Kurds have been trying to get a piece of turkey to add to what they gained in Iraq, and create a new nation.... In turkey they are considered terrorists.

Any support we give the Kurds further destabilizes the region.
