Teenage Girl Burned to Death by Her Ex-Boyfriend
Nabire, Central Papua, Indonesia A teenage girl, Chelsy K.C., was found charred in bushes near a beach. Her identity was initially difficult to determine due to the charred face, with police posting public appeals until relatives arrived to identify the body. The perpetrator was a teenager, A., who was taken into custody less than 24 hours after the body was discovered. According to A., he and Chelsy had begun dating in May 2026, and they had sex. However, the following month, A. broke off the relationship as he had developed feelings for another girl. Feeling betrayed, Chelsy threatened to talk to A.'s parents about their sexual encounter. A. briefly contemplated suicide before deciding to intend to kill Chelsy. A. arranged a meeting with Chelsy, having stowed a bottle of kerosene and a kitchen knife under the seat of his motorcycle. Chelsy saw the knife and fled. When A. demanded her to return, Chelsy asked him to discard of the knife, so he did. Feeling safe, Chelsy approached A., who pushed her into the bushes and strangled her into unconsciousness.
