most probably she grabbed a beam above her head, maybe pulled up a little, then he put a noose on her neck. after that he noose himself same way, only he was grabbing with one hand. then they let go simultaneously.

also almost sure girl took off her shoes before hanging. she was hanging right against the wall and face to the wall, and this was constraining her convulsive movements considerably.

Perfectly plausible theories, all.

Alas, we'll never know and can merely speculate. Since the family refused an autopsy and they did not livestream the double-hanging all we can do is guess. But your suggestions have merit.

I had assumed that the uneven placement of her footwear might be indicative of them falling off during the event. Even given the proximity of the wall, she had to have kicked around somewhat in full suspension with virtually no drop like that.
But they're still close enough together that she may indeed have simply stepped out of them while getting prepared for her hanging.

Though I would wonder why she'd take them off. Obviously abject folly to ruminate on the goings-on in a suicidal person's head right before they noose themselves. But she's still wearing her heavy sweatshirt, zipped all the way up like outerwear. And she clearly didn't bother to visit a toilet before hanging herself. So why bother to remove one's shoes but leave so many other aspects in an odd state of unreadiness?

All just theories in any event.

I actually believe that they died quite differently from one another. Because the knot on her noose slipped around to the front and she was full suspended, the pressure on the carotids would be different from that of her boyfriend, who likely went unconscious in seconds. Hers was also probably no more than 30 seconds of consciousness, but I suspect she felt a lot more suffering than he did, with that noose knot pressing up against the underside of her jaw.

One of her shoes fell right beneath her foot, whereas the other is kicked back several inches, which I would interpret to mean that she was probably kicking her legs hard enough to dislodge them. The fella seems to have started out barefoot and saved himself the trouble.

That was my first thought.... that he hanged her before hanging himself.... I guess no one will really ever know.
