Do you think anyone should be able to carry any weapon any place he wants? Where are the limits on the "right" to have weapons? Do want people to have high explosives, grenades, and automatic weapons when they play in the park?

Please share with me how I should feel about religion, so I can make you happy with my thinking. I await your wisdom.

Let me rephrase myself: it's not MORE tragic than the tragedy itself. It ADDS to the tragic nature of the shooting. Take this from a 34-year-old man (turning in April) who has advocated numerous progressive causes in my time, including minimum-wage increases and marijuana decriminalization: the whole "gun-control" craze that inundated political spheres in recent years is built on shameless politicization and hyperbole. There is no direct correlation between violent crime and accessibility of guns, for one, and with the sheer outcry that we have been seeing in the wake of tragedies like Newtown and Aurora, would leave you to imagine that this is the case but it's not.
Secondly, "gun control" can be seen as a quick fix to a troubling epidemic with multiple underlying variables. Quick fixes are hopeless.
