Teen Girl Shot to Death After Leaving the Club

This image was sent to me by a site member and occasional contributor. I believe it is rather old, based on my research of the news story, but is quite high resolution and definitely new here, so I am posting it for him. Based on the size and quality of the image, it looks like one of the ones I used to buy from professional newspaper photographers back when they still sold such things with impunity.

This teenage girl, NBB, was leaving a discotek in Nuevo Laredo near the Texas/Mexico border, along with two male friends. They were driving a 2004 Cadillac Escalade owned by one of the two young men.

As they were exiting the parking lot, they were assaulted by a group of armed men who fired multiple rounds of differing calibers into the vehicle. All three occupants were struck, but the driver was hale enough to get the vehicle to a nearby hospital. He and his friend in the back seat were treated for injuries and both survived.

The girl, seen here in the passenger seat of the SUV, tried to duck away from the incoming fire once the shooting started, but failed to get low enough and was shot several times. According to the driver, she was alive and agonizing in the seat for some of the drive, but had died where she sat by the time they reached the ER.

As near as I could tell from the articles (the case seems to have occurred over fifteen years ago), the shooting was considered to be drug-related. Unsurprising when a 19 year old kid is driving a (at the time) brand new Cadillac Escalade to a dance club.
