Tacoma, WA I-5 Highway Crash Today

Pictures obtained from an aquaintance who apparently knows someone who knows the person in the SUV between the two semi trucks. Not sure which car in this mess holds the 1 reported fatality.         |

Thankfully, no Stearns and Foster beds were harmed in the crash. Looks like the northbound lanes near the Tacoma Dome. Joos? |

What was the pinky powdery stuff in the last pic? I thought it was from fire extinguisher, but there are no soots on the nearby vehicle

That's Quik-Sorb, to soak up the gas, oil, diesel fuel, blood, transmission fluid, brake fluid, intestinal fluid, spinal fluid, and every other kind of fluid that drips out of a completely smashed car.

I think the red roll, that looks like toilet paper, is actually a roll of steel, for stamping parts, It probably weighs 2-3 tons. I'm sure THAT did some damage when it came loose from the truck! Also, interesting that they have all the vehicles marked out on the pavement in orange paint. I guess that's kind of like body chalk from the 1940's, but for traffic crash investigators. |

I don't go in that area much anymore. I know there have been a ton of revisions and remodeling (?) of the roads along I-5 in the past year or two, but the articles do say its I-5 northbound in Tacoma.  |
