Swedish freelance photographer Martin Adler was shot and killed by a masked gunman while covering a street demonstration in Mogadishu

Adler, who worked for several media, including the Swedish daily "Aftonbladet", covering a demonstration by thousands of people June 23-2006 in support of the peace agreement reached yesterday between the Islamic Courts and the Somali TFG.

A group of protesters had set fire to an Ethiopian flag, a shot fired by a hooded man, Adler hit on the left side of the chest and in his heart, killing him instantly.

Me too. I always hate to see shit like this. I happens a lot more than people think.

Photographers should always be aware that their camera at a distance looks like a weapon. Its sad but he ain't the first.

Unfortunately today 'journalist' also means 'target' to both private thugs and government forces alike. Killing the unarmed who seek to expose reality is the hallmark of the ignorant and cowardly.
