A few pictures from the local news helicopter - I'm pretty sure that the pilot and the reporter who posted these didn't know what they were looking at. According to a person I know who works for Amtrak, the person was a female who timed the jump perfectly. The #2 track is literally inches from the platform, and Northeast Regional and Acela trains come through at nearly full speed. The other pic shows the exact spot where the person jumped from. The station building was closed for over 24 hours for "cleaning", and there was no visible evidence when I got off my train there yesterday afternoon.  ·  ·  ·  · |

A friend once told me one of his mates was a train driver who used to drive the high speed inter-city trains in the UK. He had a similar event but this person had jumped from a bridge and hit the front of the train. It was a hot day, so the driver had a side window open for breeze, and as a result, upon impact the body pretty much turned to mist, most of which was sucked into the cabin and breathed in by the driver. A traumatic event to be sure, but from that day on the driver never opened a window again, no matter how hot it was... (Yeah, sounds a bit like an urban myth, maybe, wouldn't put it past the person who told me, but reading the above it seems more than plausible.)
