My ex brother in law shot himself point blank in the forehead with a .22 rifle years ago. The bullet did not exit his head but his skull was shattered into many separate "plates" (for lack of a better term) but his scalp was intact.

I saw the body right after he did it and he bleed out of his nose, mouth, and ears and his head was really swollen but, his eyes didn't blacken. He had an open casket and they did a good job plastering over the hole but, his ears slowly wept embalming fluid continually throughout the service.
