My step dad hung himself with a dog leash in our garage. He drank half a liter of vodka, then tied it to the garage door opener and just leaned forward. It doesn't take long at all for someone to go unconscious, and then nature does the rest. That is also why auto-erotic asphyxiation happens way more often than it is intended. Also, to comment on the reason the guy tied a bag around his mouth...I am just wondering if he had seen pictures or possibly real suicides where the individual's tongue is grotesquely protruded.

the last one hung himself from a tree so he would have to squat? when the picture was taken the guys head is leaned back and there is plenty of space to allow blood flow. If this is in fact real and he died in this manner, when he lost muscle tone gravity would have pulled his head back to this position and he would have gotten blood flow again. Still could have killed him but more likely he got a buzz.
