Without the gun or bullet you would just be guessing. Autopsy may give idea from entrance wound in skull. Could be 9mm .38 cal or .357 cal and without gun or bullet there would be no way to tell as all three have same diameter and all three could do that to a human skull. Then there are .40 cal, 10mm same size, and a bunch of other calibers capable of that damage. Point being it would be just a guess without gun or bullet.
