The way I figure it, someone came up from behind him and, well, you know the outcome. I hope the poor fellow didn't feel anything, because I tell you, that would've given me one hell of a headache to have been conscious for even a few seconds.

With that area being one of the thickest parts of the skull, who knows how it got in there. He may have passed out on the floor, and the the knife could have been driven in with the use of a hammer. Also the amount of blood loss, appears the the knife could have gone completely through penetrating and cutting a lot of the facial vessels, resulting in the sizable blood pattern. When I was a Homicide Investigator, I saw many fatal, cranial knife wounds. and most were almost a blood free crime scene, because if the knife was left in place, it served as a plug, and there was very little blood flow from around the blade. This is also the reason that doctors always say, if someone has been stabbed, don't pull the blade out, secure it in-place and get to ER, STAT... This is due to the risk of uncontrolled bleeding if the blade is removed, in something less that a level 1 trauma/shock room or ER.

Just some food for thought about it from a retired LEO. Cabriolet.

Interesting that an Ex LEO would be into looking at this type of stuff. I come here because my life is so pristine that this weird stuff has always interested me. Hmmm.

Have you always been interested in this? I wonder if I just missed my calling. I'm always the first to jump out and help if I see a wreck or whatever. Blood and guts does not bother me at all. I just want to help, if I can...or look...if nothing can be done. I don't quite know why.

its me, derr: Law Enforcement Officer.

Nutdip: I come here from time to time, to see what the hell man or woman, is still doing to their fellow man(woman). Just about all of my adult working like, dealt with the business of death in one form or another. Prior to becoming a LEO, I was in the funeral biz for a few years. Most of the thread here seem somewhat tame, compared to seeing it first hand, and being the one with the chalk and the camera taking the photos, like the ones seen here. C.
