Re: Stabbed to Death at Least 10 Times in the Back, Chest and Head After Leaving a Bar
Actually, the HIV virus does not live long outside the body, exposed to air. It would have to be a pretty immediate transference, but I doubt getting tainted blood on your skin after the fact is at all risky. Most infections are done from live to live hosts.

That also depends on air temperature. If the ambient temperature is in the mid 90's (close to the body temperature) the humidity is fairly high, as it is often in Central America in the summer, the virus can survive longer in wet blood outside the body than it can in cooler, drier zones. Without blood, or other body fluids, however, it dies immediately. Considering the amount of blood here that appears to be still in liquid form, and the apparent temperature, I'd say, yeah, there is a risk. |

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_long_d...tside_the_body Personally i think it would be unlikely to get it from an outside dead body. I'd still always wear gloves though if i was handling one But you still cannot get hiv from blood unless you have a cut yourself so flip flops would be fine unless you had a cut. |
