It's an elderly woman who committed suicide: the photo in the OP belongs to a set of 4:
she was depressed because she was alone. After cutting herself numerous times in various parts of the body such as legs, wrists and back of the thigh (she was storing the blood coming out from the injuries in a small bowl), she wrapped herself in several electric wires which she plugged into an outlet, and finally died.
I've added the three more pics as a contribution, when (if) chris will accept it, they'll show-up in the OP.

I dunno know.
It looks like an abortion gone wrong.
That imprint on the plate or sheet is similar to someone sitting on it.
The blood in the bowl makes me think abortion and she bled to death. Note: The wire wrapped around the body.

Thanks Gatagato, you just excel in finding the background stories for even the most random pics Anyhow, I've never heard of such a gruesome way to commit suicide, I guess she was feeling extremely desperate and/or indifferent at that point

yeah, I've seen this one before too...He had a bowel bleed and became delirious, before passing out, and died from blood loss. I had a bleed like this one and coded twice. It is a painless quick way to go. I told my husband that is how I want to die...of another bleed. Thank God we live only minutes from a major medical center, or I would have been dead for sure.
