Maybe he was trying to get away from an attacker.

Maybe a suicide, writhed on the floor in pain/shock.
Isn't that a bowl of blood on the chair next to the bed? Maybe he was trying not to make a mess when he slit himself.

Then to maybe he was shaving in bed.

I've seen this one before-the vic had been ill,he was using that bowl as a chamber pot and had a GI bleed, he got up to try to get help and passed out,slipped , fell and eventually died. He laid there until the odor alerted the neighbors.
