Sounds like what a lot of the Germans who killed themselves in the final days of WWII did, suicide two ways to make damn sure they died. Hitler took cyanide then shot himself.

Sounds like it. Blood can clot and ropes can snap, but that's nothing compared to the serious repercussions a failed suicide can inflict. Better to play it safe by using both methods then to wind up a drooling vegetable because some overachieving EMT brought you back to life after severe oxygen deprivation.
