I've been in Alexandria and Cairo.... Let me tell ya, if it was food poisioning, I would NOT be surprised.... Every country/culture has it's own thing but whilst there, learned they are suspect of any meat that is wrapped (like in US we have our meat packaged and wrapped so no one touches, etc) and think we are hiding something. While driving around down there, there were meat vendors who hung slabs of whatever from the porch or entrance to advertise the good meat (barf)....
