On the fateful afternoon of Tuesday, August 29, in the San Vicente sector of the Santa Rosa canton, El Oro province, an unimaginable horror was unleashed. Sergeant J L Q P, 44, a member of the El Oro Judicial Police, embarked on the mission to recover a stolen van. Next to him, the tow truck driver, V A C, 66, joined to carry out the procedure.

The terrifying turn of events occurred when they were both in the cargo vehicle. Suddenly, a group of hitmen, aboard another vehicle, appeared on the scene. Without warning, they started shooting with short and long range firearms. Despite his desperate attempts to protect himself, the bullets went through the bodywork, taking the lives of Sergeant Q P and the driver A C.

The heartbreaking news reached the emergency units, who rushed to the scene of the event. However, they could only confirm the sad reality: two brave lives committed to justice had been cruelly cut short.
