A shot from less than 50mm (2", intermediate range gunshot). The bullet tumbling in flight caused the irregular shape of the wound, most likely homicide. |

Suicide. The concentration of powderburns under the wound suggests she held the gun in both hands, pointing upwards in front of her forehead and probably pulled the trigger with a thumb.

I really think it could be either, murder or suicide. People shoot themselves in all sorts of different ways, not just to the side of the head. However, my one measure of impulse suicides, though (as opposed to planned), do have a higher rate of side-head shots. So it could be that this, then, was not the impulse variety. Additionally, if murder, it's unusual to see such a geometrically centered wound relative to the rest of the face. Even organized executions rarely achieve that.
