Hey guys . Apologise if this is a repost but i wanted to share some pics i have had for awhile in the hope some may not have seen them....I am a keen surfer and diver and have had a few encounters with big sharks. This is my worst nightmare ![]() On the afternoon of 12 September 2003, 19 year-old David Borman, who had only nine months earlier graduated from Rondebosch Boys' High in Cape Town, was pursuing his passion for surfing with six friends at Dunes, a popular surf area between Noordhoek and Kommetjie. David was reportedly no more than 100 to 150 feet from shore when he was attacked by a great white shark, one which possibly — given that David was wearing a black wetsuit and fins and using a black boogie board — mistook him for a seal and bit into him, causing what news reports described as a "massive injury from his back down to his thigh." Some have suggested these pics are fake due to the lack of blood but fact remains the poor fuka bled out before his mates could get help. |

Thanks Woodsy ![]() The photos are real: most likely the guy lost most if not all is blood before even reaching the shore. Here's the short account of Peter Whale and Brent Mills, the two other surfers in the water at the time: Whale said he heard a loud splash even though there were no sets of waves coming through. Quote:
Mills said he saw Bornman catch a wave towards the shore. Quote:

That is a shame but like the article says, the shark was not purposely looking to kill the kid but likely mistook him for a seal. Surfing is an amazing and beautiful sport but this is a risk people take each time they go out. |

There have been survivors who have endurad worse attacks and somehow miraculously survived. Time is of essence here, the longer it takes to get him to a hospital or to stem the bleeding.. the lower his chances of survival.. R.I.P dude..

Anyone can see that the lack of blood is due to him bleeding out. You say you got stories of sharks, Woodsy? Share your best one
