Re: A Series of Very Unfortunate Events
Coroner's official report was released. Cause of Death on both individuals was carbon monoxide poisoning from the car exhaust. The scenario attributed to the case is that the two were parked in the garage, listening to music (car stereo was still on and turned up loudly), drinking beer (several open containers in the car), and eating snacks from a nearby fast food joint. The police theorize that the young woman excused herself, likely to go to the bathroom after all the drinking. Because she was intoxicated, she lost her footing on the stairs, fell, and cracked the back of her neck against the wall. Even if the blow was not fatal, it incapacitated her enough that she died from the exhaust fumes while unconscious or helpless. His CoD was the same. They assume he passed out drunk and died while waiting for her to return. There were no injuries on his body at all. As for why his eyes are open in the photos, I cannot say. I did some research and discovered that the eyes can often drift from position after death-half-closing when they are open and opening a bit when they are closed. That is why many corpses we see have half-lidded eyes. In his case, however, his eyes are more than halfway open so it is hard to say. Whatever the reason, the police could find no evidence of foul play in either case. Just a fucked up, tragic accident. |

Re: A Series of Very Unfortunate Events
I would say "yes" and here's why: The most common symptoms of CO poisoning are headache, dizziness, weakness, upset stomach, vomiting, chest pain, and confusion. CO symptoms are often described as “flu-like.” If you breathe in a lot of CO it can make you pass out or kill you. People who are sleeping or drunk can die from CO poisoning before they have symptoms. https://www.cdc.gov/co/faqs.htm If you look closely at pictures of the man you can see what looks like vomit on his face and on his shirt. I think it's possible he awoke choking on his vomit and, deprived of oxygen to his brain, he was confused and still drunk and was overwhelmed by the car exhaust. I'm no expert. That's just my humble opinion. I don't think they were murdered. |
