PHILIPPINES - On March 14, 2020 (a day before lockdown began due to the COVID-19 pandemic), 39-year-old M.T.R. was shot to death inside a tricycle in Barangay Panginay, Bulakan, Bulacan. Here's the post I translated.

MARRIED WOMAN WHO WAS ACCUSED OF THE P100-MILLION INVESTMENT SCAM KILLED AFTER BEING SHOT BY MOTORCYCLE RIDERS IN BULAKAN, BULACAN

A 39-year-old woman who was recently released due to her involvement in the P100-million investment scam was killed after being shot by motorcycle riders in the municipality of Bulakan, Bulacan.

The victim was identified as M.T.R., native of Barangay San Jose, and current resident of Barangay Matungao of the said municipality.

In an interview by jeob.tv news on line with tricycle driver J.S.D., the shooting took place at around 12:05 PM.

He loaded the victim in Barangay Matungao on the way to Balagtas when he was tailed by motorcycle riders, whose faces are not recognized by him, and they shot her.

At first, he thought that his tricycle tire was popped, however his vehicle was actually being riddled with bullets by suspects.

Suspects immediately fled in the direction going to Balagtas.

The victim was said to be recently released from jail in January after she was reportedly charged along with her husband E.R. of P100-million investment scam in Bulakan by complainants who were scammed seven months ago.

According to victim's relative M.M., the victim was delivering food to her husband who is detained at Balagtas District Jail, and she did not reportedly receive death threats.

Seven slugs were seen around the tricycle where the victim lied.

Police are continuing their investigation regarding the shooting.

BULAKAN - Husbana and wife E.R., 45, and M.R., 38, were arrested last night [August 3, 2019] due to 7 counts of estafa [fraud] in a modus operandi regarding mall shops and boutiques investment and freebies scam which is worth P13 million.

Including other victims from multiple barangays in this town as well as from the City of Malolos, the couple were said to be scammed P100 million.

The victims of the said P100-million [investment scam] are showing up right now.

The victims were offered to invest in the known signature shops in major malls in Malolos, Baliwag, Pampanga and Quezon City by giving a lot from P92,000 to P5 million, and they will receive 10% interest monthly for their invested money, as well as expensive freebies.

However after several months of good investment, the married couple disappeared. Freebies and money were lost because there was no actual investment but rather everything is a scam.
