Рената can also be the accusative or dative ("of Renat/Renat's") form of Renat. I think they called him gay in the post as an insult.

If his name was Renat he was probably Tatar or some other Turkic ethnicity. My half Tatar ex was a Renatovich.

There are many Asian ethnicities in Russia that aren't Chinese. If his name was Renat then he was probably Tatar. To me it seems like they called him gay to emasculate him.
