The difference is between whether "Asbestos" is a proper or common noun. As a proper noun it is transliterated from Cyrillic, i.e. Asbest, while as a common noun the meaning is translated, i.e. asbestos. I'm guessing Google Translate is not aware that there is a town named after the mineral.
