Recent Latin American Deaths Compilation
In Repelón, Atlántico Department, Colombia, a 52-year-old man, Manuel E.Z.M., and his wife, 33-year-old Nayra C.G. were killed when, whilst riding their motorbike, they were run over by a Renault Duster SUV. The Renault ended up crashing into a ravine, injuring both its occupants. The driver was taken into custody.       In Miranda state, Venezuela, the heavily decomposed body of 20-year-old Gabriel A.M. was found on the banks of the Gran Mirascal Ayacucho highway. Gabriel had last been seen with a group of friends five days previously. When he failed to return, his relatives looked for him at police stations and hospitals, but to no avail. By the time Gabriel's body - which was identified by his clothes and shoes - was found, his head had been reduced to a skull. The skull had several fractures, and there was a hole in the forehead.      In Soledad, Atlántico Department, Colombia, the body of a 25-year-old man, Jan C.V.A., was found. His feet were tied, and a note placed on his body accused him of being a thief and extortionist. He had been shot in the head and the right shoulder, and had been stabbed five times in the neck. Jan worked as a barber, and the police reported he had no criminal record.      In Macuspana, Tabasco state, Mexico, three decapitated bodies, along with the severed heads of two of the victims, were dumped in front of a basketball court, next door to a kindergarten. The deceased were identified as 39-year-old Javier "N", 31-year-old Williams A. "N", and 16-year-old Eluzai R.O.R. A narcomanta was hung nearby, signed by a commander of the CJNG, which included threats to those involved with a criminal nicknamed 'El Águila' or 'El Bolsa'. The banner also warned that the CJNG would confront those who dealt with kidnapping and extortion in the area.      In Vila Velha, Espírito Santo state, Brazil, an unidentified man was shot at least six times - two to the chin, two to the chest, and two to the head - before his corpse was set ablaze. A jerry can was found next to the corpse.   In Izabal Department, Guatemala, the decomposing body of a man, later identified as Jorge C., was found on the beach shore.   In Guatemala City, 28-year-old motorcyclist Angel J.d.L.A. was fatally run over by another vehicle.      In the El Petén department of Guatemala, the dismembered body of 37-year-old Oscar R.O.N. was found next to a CJNG narcomanta, which warned retaliation for cattle rustlers and drug sellers. The hamlet where this occurred is near Guatemala's border with Mexico.      |
