Im gonna say its a fake! The DOF (Depth of field) is very shallow, probably shot at f/1.4 or f/1.8, interesting that the foot is not in focus, but the focus plane on on either side is in focus.  |

The subject in focus is THE FOOT, but its not in focused? Unless his camera has a severe case of back focus. I really doubt it though. |

The photo was taken by Ahmad Masood, he was in charge of Reuters' Afghan picture coverage and was the as chief photographer of Reuters' Kabul bureau: it was taken in Kabul in July 22 2008, that's the foot of the suicide bomber; the blast killed 3 civilians and wounded one more. This photo was taken by the same photographer, the same day, at the same site, just from a different angle. The severed leg that you see at the bottom-right is the same.
