All three cities are known for their highly impoverished pockets, and people ignore the beauty and colorful characters that lies within' those cities. Even the sketchier parts of NOLA and Chicago are filled to the brim with decent, hard-working family men who just barely scrape by financially.... Let those pics serve as outliers, this is NOT how everybody gets by day-to-day in the blue-collar, majority-minority neighborhoods throughout our nation.
I've been to Baltimore once, passed through the "shady" side of town and I did not feel intimidated.
Don't let others' poor conditions intimidate you, it doesn't even intimidate some of them....

Basically what Im trying to prove . Chicago is always at the center of the Violence debate when it shouldnt be Obviously a ton of other cities are wayyyyyyy more dangerous stats wise to be in than Chicago. Chicago's population inflates their numbers physically but the stats arent ever in favor of Chicago being as dangerous and murderous as they always make it out to be. The ghettos dont intimidate me one bit .

What surprises me from the stat chart is the indication that Pittsburgh has a higher murder rate than Chicago. My impression of Pittsburgh (from my one trip there) was not that it was bucolic or idyllic, but for a city of its size, it seemed to be prospering somewhat. Alright, it's a steel town and it's seen its share of decay but for the lack of better wording, I did not get that "Boyz N The Hood" aura in Pittsburgh.... I did for a moment in Chicago.

Again it goes back to actually population numbers. Chicago's are going to be higher because its one of the largest cities in america. But per capitia its pretty safe. Even people that live there say it isnt as bad as people make it seem.

Yes, I agree, the panic over "Chicago crime" is misdirected. I do not get intimidated easily, by familiar American settings. Small-town, big-city, rural, urban, we're one country united, aren't we? But the media has played into this "fear this, fear that" propaganda, perpetuating stereotypes and archetypes. We can't unite and see the truth under these conditions, we will continue to be intimidated (not saying you are intimidated, but many people do fall prey to fear-mongering tactics).
