Yeah, in most scenes that I see the first thing they do is cut the rope to take the person down to check if still alive. I guess maybe they could tell right away that this one was dead, so no hurry.

Re: Prospective Nursing Student Hangs Herself Over Breakup

Hey Ved I’ve seen a few bodies hanging I understand rope stretch to a point but I was wondering if you could explain how so many suicide by hanging cases you post show victims hanging but on their knees or with bent knees with their feet on the floor??? I’ve seen significant rope stretch where the victim was very close to the ground but we’re talking a nasty nasty bloater with at least a 6-8 day hang time.

Partial suspension hangings are probably the most frequent type of suicidal hanging. They're fairly simple, they don't require a drop, and if you use the right material for a noose and get the angle right, they can be almost painless.

Suspension hanging will kill its victims in three ways: compression of the carotid arteries, the jugular veins, or the airway. About 11 lb (5 kg) of pressure is required to compress the carotid artery; 4.4 lb (2 kg) for the jugular veins; and at least 15 kg (33 lb) for the airway.

Any of those can be achieved by simply putting the pressure on the neck, even while supporting oneself with the feet or the knees. The pressure on the carotids or jugulars will usually render the subject unconscious almost painlessly and within 10 seconds.

Blocking the airway is when it gets painful as hell. But in most partial suspension hangings, the hangee can stop and adjust the noose if it misses the vein/artery compression and starts blocking the airway instead. If you're doing a drop or full suspension hanging and you make that mistake, it is essentially unfixable. You'll still go unconscious fairly quickly, but you're gonna suffer in the process. This is most likely what is happening in the hanging cases where we see the decedent's fingers clutching at the noose. They were suffering the agonies of airway closure and trying to take pressure off, but eventually passed out anyway.

We see a ton of these partial suspension hangings because they have such modest requirements. A noose and a fixed point at almost any level are all you need. I've seen several of them performed while the decedent was actually lying down on their belly! You just put the noose in place, rest your neck against it, and let your body go slack. Out like a light.

New knowledge for me!!
There's this saying that if you shoot your head at the right point, you won't feel any pain
Is that the same case as suicide by hanging??
The blood stop flowing to the particular part of the brain that process pain I guess

Oh no, the tragic loss of another bug eyed Asian Muslim....

While their fashion sense (wearing stupid medieval age clothes) and morals are stupid as fuck, losing a daughter is never a good thing, at least be better than the extremists and have some minimal empathic skills

It's comforting to know she will soon be in the dissection program of the nursing school she so loved!

Nah. As I said in the OP, the family did not contest the suicide verdict based on the scene investigation. She never even saw the inside of a morgue, let alone a school anatomy class. Once the police make their ruling on CoD and the family does not contest, it was a very quick journey for her. The family takes custody of the body, strips the clothing, washes off all the piss and shit, re-dresses her in burial clothes, and has her in the coffin within 24 hours. Often less than 12.
