Where was this and is there any type of story behind it? Where do they just keep bodies on the floor?

In the first pic, looks like a mat of some type. Maybe he died there and they are picking up the body?

I'm guessing since the box is lined with metal there is no sort of embalming process, they probably just bury them like that.Just a guess.
