Pregnant Singer Samina Sindhu Shot Dead During Performance, Larkana 2018
At a village ceremony in Kanga, near Larkana in Pakistan's Sindh province, Sindhi folk singer Samina Samoon, 24, known professionally as Samina Sindhu, was fatally shot on April 10, 2018 while performing. She was about six months pregnant. Witnesses agreed that a guest told her to stand while she sang, after which three shots were fired. She later died at Chandka Medical College Hospital. Her husband requested that the matter be handled as a double murder due to the unborn child. Tariq Jatoi, the accused, was arrested within days and charged with murder and terrorism offenses; no verdict appears in the public record. |
