The bone arrowhead still sat in the skull, when the skeleton of a 35-40-year-old man man was found in 1946 in the peat bog Porsmose, near Næstved. Another arrow was also deeply embedded in the man's breastbone. Both arrows must have been fired at an angle from above and from close distance. This suggests that the man was surprised by his attackers or perhaps was the victim of an execution. After this the body was thrown out into what was then a lake. The arrows are a type which belong to the Single Grave Culture period.

Interesting find, Kelly. It is nice to have our small country featured

I would have supplemented with a couple of those nice preserved girls found in bogs in the bronzeage, but I couldn't get the pictures off that fucking website

And a bit of information: Should you ever come to Copenhagen (there might be a good chance, as the city is overcrowded with wealthy american cruise tourists in the summer), you could easily spend a rainy day - they are plenty - in the national museum. There is no entrance fee, so it is much cheaper - and much more interesting - than shopping

Re: Porsmose Man

You actually have a very nice museum in Copenhagen.

But the one in Stockholm is larger and better... ;)
