A police officer murdered his lawyer girlfriend in a hotel room on 14/02/13.
They had been drinking with one of the police officers friends and returned to the hotel room. An argument broke out between them, with the man accusing his girlfriend of having an affair with his friend. During the accusation the police officer started to beat his girlfriend and his friend tried to stop him but he was threatened. Scared that his friend may be armed the man fled the room and the police officer beat his girlfriend to death with a piece of wood.
An employee of the hotel heard the commotion and alerted police who arrived and arrested the man.

There's a high rate of alcoholism amongst police officers here in America. Perhaps this phenomenon isn't unique to this country?

Block of wood sounds pretty hardcore. Looks like a rough scene, as though he pinned her wrists together above her head, kept his weight on her center of gravity, and battered away at her face until the screaming stopped.

It isn't unique at all. Quite a few officers commit suicide but much like military suicides, your media sweeps it under the rug. I had a Detroit police officer that stayed directly across the street from me, really nice guy, commit suicide. When I say EVERY cop in the city on duty showed up, I wasn't bullshittin.

I'm sure he will have a nice time in jail, when his inmates find out he is/was a cop
