Uh, YEAH! That's because Ukraine was the ONLY eastern European country that was advanced enough to construct and operate such a pipeline. They had the engineers, the certified welders, the educated operations staff, EVERYTHING needed to operate gas pipelines safely and efficiently. THAT'S WHY RUSSIA ROUTED ALL THEIR GAS LINES THROUGH UKRAINE. IT WAS THE BEST WAY FOR THEM TO MAKE MONEY WITHOUT CONSTANT INDUSTRIAL DISASTERS! And yet another important reason that Russia is in a financial squeeze now. They laid their own dick on the table, and then they hit it with a hammer themselves. This is already proven to be a lie. PT109, what you SHOULD be outraged about, is why Russia did not become the wealthiest nation in the world after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. With Russia's INCREDIBLE resources, and limited population, EVERY SINGLE CITIZEN IN RUSSIA SHOULD OWN 2 CARS, A BOAT, AND A VACATION HOUSE, AND BE ABLE TO TRAVEL ALL OVER THE WORLD. Everyone in Russia should be owning at least 500 acres of land. HOW DID YOU LET THE ENTIRE WEALTH OF RUSSIA BE CONCENTRATED IN A FEW CORRUPT HANDS, VERSUS HOW IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DISTRIBUTED VIA STOCK OWNERSHIP TO EVERY CITIZEN IN RUSSIA. i knew that in the 1800's it was good to be British. In the 1900's it was good to be U.S. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, I thought for SURE that the 2000's would belong to Russia. After the collapse of Soviet Russia, there was absolutely NOTHING holding Russia back from great achievements, other than the remaining SOVIET influences. But they turned out to be enough to derail the bright future of Russia. Capitalism has never had people as bad as the Soviets at destroying and stealing wealth. I never considered China to be a factor, because they have so many people, and NOW SO MANY OLD PEOPLE THAT THEY HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF, that they will never have the resources to lift everyone in the country up to a higher level, beyond the most basic strata. But Russia could have done this. With only 165 million people, there should have been incredible opportunities for ALL. Instead, from all I read, they have slid backwards. NOTHING works like it is supposed to in Russia. And now things are only getting worse. You really need to get rid of all your corrupt leaders, and reform your country into a true democracy. Also, end the war in Ukraine. |

I don't mind paying higher prices, if it means the end of the Russian war in Ukraine. Just remember that RUSSIA is NOT making any money off those high prices, because they can't sell their gas anywhere. |

Mother Russia is not a great bear, just a paper tiger. A hollow shell of its former glory because of dictator Putin and his friends stealing all the wealth instead of the people enjoying the fruits of their country's resources for 30 years. His massive ego won't allow him to admit the west has a better system, flawed as it is, with capitalism and 'real' democracy. All Russia has is an ex-KGB bully as their dictator, who siphons of millions (trillions?) for his own gain, and who will drag all his people to hell with his threatening much MUCH stronger and wealthier countries with his nuclear arsenal - because that is all the little man has left. Until someone who actually wants to live without nuclear fallout puts a bullet in his head that is, or feeds him a little Polonium or Novichok as an ironic end to this pathetic little man. Poo-tin has been crying about NATO since his corrupt USSR went tits up, while he should have been trying to join them himself, seeing as how China and India will be dictating terms to Russia (and possibly USA) soon enough once they sufficiently evolve their economies. He has been so isolated and paranoid he is believing his own propaganda LOL and so are a few pro-Russian dipshitz in here :) Now he has pushed MANY countries around him toward the arms of NATO as well as completely destroying the Russian economy for decades to come or more.
