Re: Picture of a Crash

With respect it is awesome snapshot..I saw this pic awhile ago and it always amazes me the shutter rate of a high speed camera..Without quality cameras we would miss so much! And yes Alex's story is amazing!Great man!

it's actually part of his leg, he survived with only loosing the one leg and just a few scratches and bruises.

Re: Picture of a Crash

Alez Zanardi lost both legs over the knees. As expected, he's walking again with artificial legs and back into a cockpit. Not racing professionally as far as I know but amazing nevertheless.

Re: Picture of a Crash

He lost both legs, his heart stopped several times during transport to the hospital and arrived with only a few liters left in his body. After his recovery he actually went back for a last time into a modified indycar to finish the last few laps just prior to the actual race a year or two after his accident. He also had a invitational test drive for BMW Sauber in F1 and was driving for a few years in an European Touring Car Championship. He is now retired.
He was one of my favorite drivers, since he had a unique personality. one of the nicest people on earth. Met him in 99 in Monza at an F1 race. Got to talk to him for about 5 minutes.
Funny thing about his Crash.... he was in the lead just before it happened and that the car that hit him there was the one from his best friend....
