Re: Picture of a Crash
He lost both legs, his heart stopped several times during transport to the hospital and arrived with only a few liters left in his body. After his recovery he actually went back for a last time into a modified indycar to finish the last few laps just prior to the actual race a year or two after his accident. He also had a invitational test drive for BMW Sauber in F1 and was driving for a few years in an European Touring Car Championship. He is now retired. He was one of my favorite drivers, since he had a unique personality. one of the nicest people on earth. Met him in 99 in Monza at an F1 race. Got to talk to him for about 5 minutes. Funny thing about his Crash.... he was in the lead just before it happened and that the car that hit him there was the one from his best friend.... |
