Re: Photos From The University Tennessee Body Farm

I am an hour away from this place and want to see it so bad. You aren't allowed in though unless you're in the program at the school, law official, etc. So, yeah, no random Joe Blow can go in. Bummer.

Re: Photos From The University Tennessee Body Farm

I used to live fairly close to Knoxville, heard about the Body Farm quite a bit. Most of what people said about it was negative because they felt having a body farm nearby kind of tarnished the "down home feel" we had and made it a much darker place. Didn't seem to understand the good that place was doing.
Agreed. They helped with the Caylee Anthony case too. Or....at least I'm fairly certain they did. Hmmmm. Must check that. But yes, very beneficial. It may take away that 'down home' feeling but it helps a lot for those that have lost someone and they need to know why.

Re: Photos From The University Tennessee Body Farm

Damn. Could you imagine getting lost in the woods in the middle of the night and stumbling into one of these places by accident? Not only would you be traumatized for the rest of your life, but you'd also have to answer to trespassing charges.

Re: Photos From The University Tennessee Body Farm

What I don't get is why when this is a fully sanctioned research facility, there is crime scene tape around one of them.

Very smart killer to dump a body on a body farm

Re: Photos From The University Tennessee Body Farm

"A body farm is a research facility where human decomposition can be studied in a variety of settings. The aim is to gain a better understanding of the decomposition process, permitting the development of techniques for extracting information (such as the timing and circumstances of death) from human remains. Body farm research is particularly important within forensic anthropology and related disciplines, and has applications in the fields of law enforcement and forensic science. Four such facilities exist in the United States, with the research facility operated by Texas State University at Freeman Ranch being the largest at seven acres."
i dont think 7 acres is enough distance for neighbors to ignore the smell.
